More often than not, music is a team sport and group lessons emphasize the essential skill of playing in sync with others. Private 1:1 lessons may overlook the aspect of musical cues and how to interpret them in fellow musicians. By learning as part of a group, students begin developing these vital skills right from day one, in addition to all the other benefits of group learning. Group lessons provide a platform for students to understand timing, coordination, and synchronization, enabling them to become well-rounded musicians capable of playing harmoniously with others.

Lessons are billed one month in advance on the 1st of each month using a convenient automatic payment method. Card details are required upon sign up but you won't be charged until lessons are 100% booked and confirmed. Kindly note that we do not accept bank transfers, cash or any other forms of manual payment.

The cost of lessons is £70 per month, and each weekly lesson lasts for 30 minutes. The maximum class size is limited to 3 students. Band/Adult Lessons are £130 per month and weekly lessons are 45 minutes in length. To simplify the payment process, I offer an auto payment system where the monthly fee will be automatically charged on the first of every month. This convenient setup will be arranged upon registration and confirmation of the class schedule.

My classes are intentionally limited to a maximum of 3 students to ensure that I can effectively monitor and manage different abilities. This approach allows me to provide personalized attention and support to each student, ensuring that no one falls behind or feels held back. By keeping the class size small, I can tailor instruction to meet the specific needs and learning pace of each individual, fostering a conducive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Band Classes are offered at to 4 students to allow for a common band line up of lead guitar, rhythm, guitar, drums and bass. On occasion a space may be made for a lead singer and/or keyboards. Due diligence will always be done for these occasions and may include auditions lead by existing student/band members.

Adult classes are offered exclusively on weekdays during school hours. Each class is 45 minutes long and is primarily offered on a one-on-one basis. In some cases, adult students may be grouped together if they have similar learning needs, schedules, or are preparing for specific performances. One-on-one classes are not guranteed.

I teach term time only following the Aberdeenshire term schedule which can be found here:
Aberdeenshire Council School Timetable 24/25
In most cases classes will still be on for bank holidays and in-service days. Students will be informed of any planned changes to this and reschedule/credited accordingly.

I highly encourage students to invite friends to join my music tuition program at any point throughout the year. When a new student joins, they will be assigned to a group based on the availability of space in their chosen instrument category, taking into consideration their age and musical interests. My focus is on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students can learn and grow together, prioritising factors such as age and interest rather than solely basing group placement on ability. This approach allows for a diverse and collaborative learning experience for all students involved.

If a lesson needs to be cancelled by the teacher, I will strive to offer an alternative time slot for rescheduling whenever possible. In some cases, I may also provide a credit for the following month or a refund for the cancelled lesson. On the other hand, if a student needs to cancel a lesson, I will do my best to offer an alternative time slot for that week, if one is available. For full details see my cancellation policy here.

Absolutely! The best part of learning an instrument is finally being able to show off your new skills to the world!

Parents are welcome to observe lessons providing there is room for them; however, it is advised to find a balance. While occasional observation can provide insight, it is important to allow students the space to develop independence and focus.
